That ‘First Class’ Emirates A380 Flight

Always wondered what it’s like to fly First Class to Maldives, transitioning through Dubai, with Emirates? We did too and well, life really is too short not to experience it once, given the opportunity.

Showering at 43,100 feet in a plane is certainly a far cry from the cramped, uncomfortable long haul flight of our normal Economy Class, so I was looking forward to this experience. But would it really stand up to my scrutiny and was it worth the extra, significant, cost?

Read on to get the answer…. oh and watch the videos, that’s a good way to come with me for this Emirates First Class experience.

List to my audio introduction above

Experiences start from the beginning of your travels and getting to the airport can be stressful. Not when you fly with Emirates – they send a car! Whether you fly First or Business, this option makes for an exceptional start to your journey. Then there’s the lounge. At Heathrow its a combined First and Business area, roomy, light, airy and relaxed with fresh healthy food and plenty of champagne its a hassle free beginning. More often than not you can board through gates from the lounge, pressure free. We loved this about Emirates.

What were we expecting?

Good question. The ‘ultimate’ in comfort, such as you can get on an aeroplane. And our expectations were met. From the champagne greeting to the fully flat sleeping, from dining on demand to the space and privacy.

Dining

Dining on demand brings a whole new meaning to the quality of your flight and how you feel when you reach your destination. Now I am not a big eater and eating light on the plane can help with the jet-lag for sure. Just don’t ask me about the volume of Dom Pérignon that can be consumed way too easily!

Having delighted in the caviar (with a shot of Belvedere Vodka, of course) on the way out, that was my dish of choice on the way back. Though eating it with one arm in plaster was a challenge – don’t ask how that happened!

A Note About Allergies: There’s been some concerning press around allergies and flights. My peanut and nut allergy is pretty severe, so it’s always somewhat nerve racking to take a long haul flight. My experience with Emirates was incredible care and attention to ensure what I ate was safe, even down to the snack basket in our cabin.

‘Showering’ At 43,100 feet In The Air

A better description would be ‘spa’ experience! Magically the ‘toilet’ is transformed. Heated flooring, soft lighting, luxury bathing products and creams and soft fluffy towels.

Once booked in for a time slot, you have up to 10 minutes in the shower, so as to ensure everyone has water, but can take your time overall. Returning to your seat, you find a lovely herbal tea and fresh fruit plate. It’s a delightful experience. Take a look…

TRANSITIONING THROUGH DUBAI – The Bus!

This was unexpected. Emirates are excellent helping you to transit through Dubai, whether you are travelling First or Business Class. We had quite a short connecting time for our onward flight to Dubai. We were met off the plane and the stewardess said she had arranged transport because we had to change terminals. We had a fair walk and to be honest expected one of those ‘buggy’ type things you see people being ferried around in typically through an airport.

Then we stepped outside and saw this!

Mr SueQsWorld loved it – just watch the video. Was such fun. And made us feel quite special and a bit pampered for sure.

So Sue, how did the experience stand up to your scrutiny? The BEST way to travel, particularly for long haul. We found Emirates to be excellent in every way. Was it worth the cost? That’s down to every individual to decide of course, but we are glad we have the memories.
